　　Air pollution

　　Our environment is becoming so bad that it begins to endanger our habitation. Among various pollution, air pollution is significantly severe.

　　Automobile exhaust contributes most to air pollution. It is of great harm to ozonosphere, which protects the earth from ultraviolet rays. Scientists have found that there are huge holes in the atmosphere above the North and South Poles.As a result,the temperature will be continuously on the rise, gradually the gigantic resources of ice will melt in the North and South Poles, and the earth will eventually face its doom as a result of floods overwhelming the globe. Besides, waste air emitted by industries ruins vegetation,and acid rain resulting from waste air kills marine life and destroys the fertility of soil.

　　There is a long way to go in solving this touchy problem. Yet we have to be resolved to tackle it.I wish it is not a dream that in the future when we look up, we can see clean blue sky with no hint of grey pollution.

　　Shopping in the City

　　Shopping is a remarkable characteristic of the city With a rich variety of commodities, one can enjoy the convenience of modern life. Also,the artistic display of these commodities can be a great pleasure to the eyes. But shopping, in my opinion, does more harm than good.

　　First, big stores often force people to buy things voluntarily. During the great same seasons of the year, one may often find oneself buying unnecessary things simply because they are cheap. In this way one is spending money on things one does not really need. Therefore it is not saving money but wasting money.Second,big stores also help to shape ones idea of consumption,which is not always beneficial. With their high price, some shopping centers are not serving common people with an average salary. Many customers have to be contended with just looking at things which they cannot afford. This may result in a sense of loss or sometimes a strong desire to make money. So very often people buy things not because they really need them but because they want to show others that they can have anything they want.

　　It is hard to avoid problems of the above kinds. But it may help if we become aware of these problems and try not to be enslaved by material things.
